Life Lessons From Tate Stevens

Tate Stevens just won the X-Factor and I, along with many others, am very proud of him. X-Factor told a great story this season and taught a great lesson: It's Never Too Late.

Recovery is a fight, a struggle, a journey. There are ups and downs, and it wastes a lot of time. Pulling yourself out of the deep throes of whatever you're in is rewarding and liberating but I cannot deny the aftertaste isn't always minty fresh than if you never had to bother to begin with.

I left work today feeling pretty upset. It's an ongoing torment— a decade-worth of life, laughs, 'self-empire building'— including esteem, confidence, and career— all down the drain. But Tate reminds us, or me anyway...

  • It never hurts to try
  • Hard work pays off
  • Love hard
  • Good things happen to good people
  • Dreams do come true
  • It's never too late

  • Are you living your dreams? If not, what's stopping you?

    Baby's First Year TAG Video!

While being a first-time parent can be fun, exciting, and full of joy, it can also sometimes be a little overwhelming, considering all the things you have to learn and choices you have to make.

As a first-time parent, I rely on my skills to do research, as well as experienced family members, friends with little ones, and any other parent who's open to sharing with me their experiences. The latter, in particular, is a favorite. What are real parents actually doing these days with their kids? What works? What doesn't? What's good? Is this normal? So on and so forth. Since there's no one way to parent, it's our jobs as parents to try to research the options and find what works best for our children and it's our goal to bring out the best in them and to raise happy, healthy (and juicy :>) citizens :>

Hillary was right— it takes a village. So with my love of asking questions and love of hearing what other parents have to say, I created this TAG (video), which consists of 25 questions related to you as the parent as well as baby's latest developments. The TAG's called Baby's First Year but many of the questions apply to older tots as well, so please don't feel excluded!

Please do and share this tag! we'd love to hear your responses and I'm sure there are other parents out there who would too!

    Enjoy and thanks for watching!

How To Peel & Segment An Orange

You sometimes find segmented oranges in fancy restaurants or during special events but cutting oranges this way has become a daily routine for me. Baby loves oranges! But she can't eat (or chew!) it if it still has the membrane attached, so I've been cutting oranges like ever since Baby's taken up solid food.

Oranges are a definitely HealthyButJuicy! And should be a staple in your diet. They're loaded with fiber (assuming you eat the membrane), vitamin C, and antioxidants, and will satisfy any sweet tooth without the guilt!

They're also a perfect baby food, being soft, juicy, and delicious— a sweet treat you can actually encourage your kid(s) to eat! Healthy habits do start early so it's important to feed your kid(s) with nutritious food from the beginning!

Segmenting an orange isn't as difficult as it might seem. Watch, learn, and eat 'em up! :)

Comment below what healthy foods you've been feeding YOUR kid(s) and if you've tried this technique yourself, we'd love to hear!

Enjoy and, as always, thanks for watching!

Clean Eating-Out Idea With Small Children!

Eating out with small children isn't always the cleanest— their little hands get everywhere and public tables are exactly the cleanest. One solution is to get those one-time-use disposable placemats but I find those to be terribly expensive, so here's my eco- and wallet-friendly solution.

If you have other ideas or parent tips, please share them in the comments section, we'd love to hear!

How To Teach Baby To Brush Teeth

I've been practicing good oral hygiene with baby ever since she was around one month old. I noticed her tongue was covered in white and feared it was thrush. Thankfully it wasn't. It was just milk stain, so I started to use a sterilized cloth to wipe her gums and tongue twice a day on a daily basis.

Shortly after baby popped her first teeth, I started to use a baby toothbrush. Not just to give her practice but to prevent my finger from being bitten off :>

She's taken well to this practice ever since. She knows what 'good oral hygiene' (literally) and 'brush teeth' now means.

Disclaimer (personal opinion): I, personally, recommend starting good oral hygiene with your baby as early as possible-- gentle and non-invasive.

Thank you so much for watching!

Please leave any video requests and comments down below! We'd love to hear from you!

    Swimming With Baby

It's never too early to bring your baby swimming. Well, sort of...

Swimming is almost (if not) the 'perfect' exercise for a pregnant women— it's a non-impact form of cardio that can help reduce swelling and the risks of pre-eclampsia (pregnancy-induced hypertension, aka. high blood pressure) and gestational diabetes, as well as allow a mother-to-be to comfortably 'lie' on her stomach. (Remember to always ask your doctor if it's safe for you first!)

I swam throughout my second and first portion of my third trimester, so Baby is no stranger to the pool. Outside the womb, I first brought my daughter swimming when she was nine months old— at an age where she could sit up by herself, started crawling, and was walking quite well while holding her two hands.

Try signing up for Parent & Child classes at a local community center. It's a great way to introduce them to water beyond their baths, socialize with other parents and children, and encourage a healthybutjuicy lifestyle early on.

Here's a sneak peak on some pre-class activity I do with my daughter.

5 Minute Makeup Challenge! TAG - Momma Edition

As a mom to an almost 10 month old, I find I don't have a lot of time, especially for things like doing my makeup. I think this is a great tag video— highly relevant for us girls who have only minutes to spare (if that), especially us mommas out there.

Hope you enjoy and can get something out of this! :>

What a Way to Start the Day!

Breakfast cereal makers are really stepping up to the plate (er, bowl) in addressing the obesity epidemic...

    ...NOT!

Even if the cereal portion is 'made from oats' and even if chocolate does have antioxidants, the amounts and benefits are negligible. Moreover, there are many [many] more better ways to start off the day— eating foods that are spelled correctly or *gasp* don't need spelling at all!

On the flip side, this would be a great way to end the day.. with some skim milk and fresh banana, this makes for a dessert to really crave.
